Read the introductory pages of Hinario Simplificado Curso 1

Review the method, facilitator role, and suggested learning sequence before guiding students.

The introductory content includes:

  • Course overview: 12 hymns divided into 3 units, each with a sacrament hymn.
  • Three preparation steps: learn melody, play while others sing, and play in a Church meeting.
  • Facilitator role: track progress and guide learners.
  • Melody-first approach: why Course 1 starts with melody and when to add left hand.
  • Suggested timeline: practice pacing and duet playing.
  • Foundational skills: Piano Marvel setup, music reading basics, fingerings, and conducting patterns.

Connect the keyboard with MIDI

Use the correct cable type so Piano Marvel can detect what is played.

  • USB Type B connector
USB Type B: square connector common on newer digital pianos.
  • MIDI DIN connector
MIDI in/out: 5-pin round DIN connectors found on many professional keyboards.
  • Micro USB connector
Micro USB: small rectangular connector used on some portable keyboards.

If you are unsure, ask for cable help in the facilitator group.

Post your keyboard model and device in the facilitators group if you are not sure which cable to use.

If questions remain, ask Marcos Boaventura from the Brazil Area music consultant group.

Complete all steps of the first hymn

Finish Sou Um Filho de Deus first, so you can guide students from experience.

This first phase focuses on repetition-based learning.

Why repetition first? Later courses add deeper theory and reading. Starting with repetition helps students play quickly, then develop other skills with confidence.

Complete the remaining hymns in Course 1

After the first hymn, complete the rest of Course 1 over the next few weeks.

Progress reports are shared by Aaron Garner.

Ready to Lead the Course?

When these seven steps are complete, you are ready to support students in your local unit.

These seven steps should be completed by consultants, coordinators, and facilitators before training students.
